What’s the future of news?

As part of our commitment to the communications community Commtract regularly hosts events with industry leaders. On Wednesday 13 September Commtract hosted Claire Kimball & Darren Goodsir to discuss what’s the future of news…

Claire Kimball is owner, inventor and author of The Squiz. It’s a weekday email launched in 2017 that already reaches more than 10,000 people. It is aimed at making it easy for time poor people to stay informed. It has been receiving rave reviews from the likes of Leigh Sales, Joe Aston and Annabel Crabb. Prior to founding The Squiz Claire worked in media relations in federal politics and the corporate sector for more than 15 years including as media adviser to Tony Abbott and head of media relations and corporate communications for Woolworths.

Darren has previously held Australia’s toughest job…from 2013 to 2017 he was Editor-in-Chief of The Sydney Morning Herald, a period which was the masthead’s most transformative and turbulent in its long history. He brought to that role more than thirty year’s history in journalism. He is currently Chief Communications Officer for UNSW.
