Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you offer?

The types of services, roles and tasks of which we have skilled experts on hand to undertake, include anything which fits broadly within a communications function. Here is a list of our disciplines.

How long is the typical commtract?

The typical contract can range from a few hours up to even 12 months. Some projects might be a short piece of writing completed in an afternoon, whereas others might be a longer term ongoing consultancy.

Are Commtractors employees or consultants?

Commtractors are consultants or independent contractors. If you want to engage them in an employment relationship we can arrange this – please contact us directly to do so.

Can I hire a permanent employee using Commtract ?

Of course. Whilst most of our expert Commtractors are keen on contract work, many are also using us as a go between until they find their next permanent gig. Therefore advertising a permanent role to our contractors is actually a strong option especially considering it is free to post. The fee will simply be 15% of the permanent remuneration.

Who pays the Commtractor’s superannuation and tax?

The Commtractor is a consultant or an independent contractor. They are responsible for their own taxation and superannuation affairs.

What if I am not quite sure what I am looking for?

Even though we are a technology company we haven’t lost sight of the importance of client support. Commtract is owned and run by communications experts. If you want to talk to one of us to discuss a project, please contact us directly.

How experienced are the Commtractors?

The majority of our experts are vastly experienced with at least 5+ years work experience, however due to client demand we have begun welcoming junior communications experts to assist with filling a gap in the market in hiring junior staff.

How do I know your Commtractors deliver quality?

Before anyone is approved to the platform they are interviewed, screened and vetted by our talent team. Clients also provide us feedback on their work once a project is complete and if it does not meet our standards of quality, they are no longer allowed to pitch for work.

How much does it cost?

It’s absolutely free to post a project, and if we cannot find the right talent then there are no costs at all. If you do engage a Commtractor then we add 15 percent to their budget. If they are so good you want them to go full time, then we charge 15 percent of the first years remuneration. This is all in the Terms & Conditions.

Can I post my project anonymously?

Yes, of course you can. We can also make sure people with only certain skills or experience see the project. For example, for a highly sensitive project, a client might only want less than ten people to see it. For a complex project, a client may only want people with 30 years’ experience to see it.

How does the invoicing work?

Commtractors invoice clients through our platform. If this does not suit your company, please contact us and we can arrange a different process.
